29/10/2011 15:24 Erbil, Oct. 29 (AKnews)- Iraqi Kurdistan Region President Massoud Barzani left for Tehran today for a official visit which lasts two days.

Faysal Dabbagh, Barzani's press secretary told AKnews, the president led a delegation which included Yasin Abu-Bakir Electricity Minister, Tahir Hawarmi Health Minister, Nawzad Hadi Erbil Governor and Behruz Mohammed Saleh Sulaimaniya governor.

During the delegation is scheduled to meet with senior Islamic Republic officials, including Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani, Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Secretary Saeed Jalili and Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi, to discuss bilateral ties and regional developments.

Speculations are that the Kurdish president will also discuss the issue of bombardments of the Kurdistan region by Iranian forces.

Since mid June Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps are shelling the bordering areas of the Kurdistan region in order to eliminate the Kurdish rebels of PJAK (Party of Free Life for Kurdistan).

The attacks have cost civilians lives and displaced thousands of villagers.

This will be Barzani's second official visit to Iran as Kurdistan president.
